Fall 2008 Wedding Proposal Stories

I’m very excited to post this reel of proposal stories from our Proposal Contest held in September. We love hearing proposal stories, so we attend the Ottawa Wedding Show (free entry!) and ask people to share them with us on our VideoBot. To thank them, we randomly pick one entry to receive a completely free VideoBot for their wedding.

Announcing the winner of this Fall’s contest: Jason and Mel of Ottawa! They will be married on May 17, 2009.  You can see their video entry here.  To see more clips from the Fall contest, visit our website, or click here to go straight to the videos.

There’s nothing like the fuzzy feeling I get from browsing these videos. This is why we do the show, because of how much we enjoy meeting all the couples, and their friends. I love the expression on their faces when we ask them how the proposal happened. Their eyes light up.  Some proposals are funny, some are practical but fitting, and others are even a little bit painful – but with a happy ending of course. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so please watch the reel! We also have a reel from our first Proposal Contest held last spring that we host on our website if you’d like to check it out.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated, and if your video appears on our site, we hope that you will share it with your family and friends, who will then get a taste of your engagement excitement.

Congratulations everyone and thank you!

A Highlight of the Summer – Pinchas Zukerman’s Birthday Dinner

Party at Wasabi Restaurant

Party at Wasabi Restaurant

I couldn’t let another day pass without posting this photo souvenir of one of my celebrity encounters of the summer.

EventBots had the honour and privilege of attending the esteemed and legendary violinist, violist and conductor, Pinchas Zukerman‘s birthday celebration. He is also the Music Director of Ottawa’s National Arts Center Orchestra (of which I am a huge fan). The very, very beautiful woman in the photo is the famous Amanda Forsyth, award-winning cellist whose music is genius. They are both unforgettable. They were also very sincere and gracious that evening when I shyly asked if they might pose in a photo with me. (Thanks Arthur for providing the camera and giving me the courage!)

Not only are they amazing artists, but they also have great taste in food. I understand they are fans of Wasabi Restaurant, the venue for the birthday party, and that they can sometimes be found at the celebrity hotspot after a performance.

On another note, I wanted to give a special thanks to Amanda’s friend, whose name I unfortunately didn’t get – but she was a great help that evening as I was overrun for photo requests at some point by the esteemed guests! She pitched right in to help with a smile, cutting and distributing our mini-photos like a pro.

Welcome to the Official EventBots Blog!

Taken at Ramius, thanks to Simon Chen

Welcome to the first blog post for EventBots. It’s been a momentous year for us at the company.

Please find out more about our company on our website. In a nutshell, our machines or “Bots” if you will, attend all kinds of events and capture audience content in the form of photos or video clips. Your guests then visit the Bot at any time during your event, and share what they’re thinking, feeling or wearing, whenever and however they feel comfortable. You’d be amazed at what the Bots have seen. An EventBot comes in two flavours. PhotoBot is like a photo booth, and lets you take as many pictures as you like – printing them instantly for you. VideoBot produces clips that you can enjoy, upload and share.

We’re a young company. Founded in 2007 in Ottawa, our very first event was the wedding of our dear friends Natalie and Joe.

Last spring, Bot version 2.0 was born. Actually, it was twins. One went to start off our Toronto office, and the other remained with us in Ottawa. The twins featured lots of upgrades, including wide angle lenses, built-in lighting and a twist on the original body design.

Since the twins’ introduction, they’ve traveled Ontario, and met some interesting people including brides and grooms, contestants in the Miss Pakistan World pageant, actors, real estate investors, photographers, social media gurus, entrepreneurs and even a few celebrities like Sarah McLachlan!

Now that we’ve finally started our blog, I’m looking forward to sharing some of the great events we attend with you. I also intend to cover some events that the Bots may not be attending, because I really love our community and the people who make things happen. Please write to us at any time.
